The Employment Accommodations Resource Center (EARC) is the University’s administrative program charged with collecting confidential, medical, and professional verification of an employee’s disability to determine reasonable and appropriate employment accommodations.

Employees requesting employment accommodations due to a disability must meet the criteria and requirements established under the California Fair Employment Housing Act (FEHA) as well as  Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The EARC works closely with Human Resources and Faculty Affairs and will, on a case-by-case basis, consult with an employee’s primary physician, or other professional to determine and recommend appropriate employment-related accommodations.

FEHA has a publication entitled Disability Under the Fair Employment & Housing Act: What you should know about the law that distinguishes FEHA from ADA.

It is the responsibility of the employee to request employment accommodations through the EARC or through his/her supervisor.

To determine eligibility for possible employment accommodations, employees must meet with an EARC representative by calling 408-924-6003.
